About

The artist behind Earthsong Pottery is Risha Sanikommu. Risha is a queer first generation immigrant from India. Coming to the states at the age of 7, she’s spent much of her life translating the challenges she’s faced into art. After learning the basics, pottery was a natural extension of her creative process.

Every Earthsong vessel is a unique conversation that starts with a lump of clay and an intention for what it might be. From throwing and shaping the basic form on the wheel, to trimming and carving details or adding attachments and applying various glaze effects, every act of manipulation results in a response from the material that is taken in and responded to carefully. The end product is always one of a kind—an object containing a process of discovery from both the clay and the artist.

Custom Work

I am happy to accept commissions and custom work on a case by case basis. If there’s a pottery piece you’re dreaming of, I’d love to help make it into reality. Send me a message and let’s see what we can make together.
